    Richard Gottfried, CPA

    Richard Gottfried, CPA, LLC provides individual and business tax services to small and medium-sized businesses in the Maryland, District of Columbia and Virginia area.

    Richard started his practice in 1990 in Rockville, Maryland.

    Richard holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from Syracuse University. After graduating, Richard worked in New York City, as an auditor for one of the Big Eight public accounting firms where he acquired invaluable experience auditing multinational Fortune 500 companies.

    In 1988, Richard moved to New Haven, Connecticut, where he worked for a smaller public accounting firm, which specialized in small to medium-sized business entities i.e., doctors, lawyers and construction companies.

    In 1993, Richard obtained his Master of Science in Taxation from Georgetown University.

    In 1990, Richard worked as a Controller for several companies in the furniture, car-rental franchise, real estate (residential and commercial) and promotional advertising industries. He worked as a Director of Finance for not-for-profit organizations: The National 4-H Council, The Children’s Law Center, Inc., and Best Friends Foundation. Richard was part of senior-management teams governing and formulating policies.

    Richard has been an adjunct faculty for American University, the University of Maryland University College, Howard Community College, Strayer University, the University of Phoenix (Lead Faculty Area Chair – Accounting, Law and Finance) and Montgomery College.

    For over twenty-five years, he has taught the following classes: accounting, auditing, governmental and not-for-profit accounting, business and individual income taxation.

    Richard is a member in the AICPA, MACPA and MSATP.

    Richard volunteers his time to various organizations: Twinbrook Citizens Association-Past President; Mattie J.T. Stepanick Foundation, Inc.-Treasurer; MSATP-Board Member; University of Phoenix-Delta Mu Delta Faculty Advisor; Montgomery College-Business Club Faculty Advisor and provides Pro-Bono Workshops on the Homeowner’s Property Tax Credit.
